From 18 to 24 months, your child may be:
Starting to become more independent
Using simple two- and three-word sentences to express himself
Rapidly growing his vocabulary and trying to express his wishes more clearly

Tips for reading with your 18- to 24-month-old:
Your child is turning into an independent person, proud of what he can do. Invite your child to select the books, turn the pages
on his own, and talk about the story with you.
Extend your child's words into sentences. Find fun ways to act out everyday concepts, like "in/out" and "up/down," or action words, such as "jump," "sing," or "sleep."

Sing to your child. It's a great way for him to feel more comfortable with language!
