Katie welcomes escape
to a summer camp for high school students at the University of Texas
in Austin to earn college credit. This year her usual birthday disaster
was more humiliating than most when her popular boyfriend, Chuck,
dumps her for one of her so-called friends. Even though she just
turned 17, Katie’s mom does not trust her to make good decisions.
Instead, she criticizes every move that Katie makes. Katie’s life
takes an unexpected turn when she rescues a dog, Seamus, from the
pound two days before he is to be euthanized. Unfortunately, just
as Katie cannot control her own life, she discovers that she cannot
control Seamus, who refuses to behave. He manages to terrorize her
roommate, the landlord and her cat, children in the park, and the
handsome college student who lives in the same apartment complex.
Will Katie learn to take charge of her dog and her own life before
her world comes crashing around her? Laughs, romance, friendship,
and a rock band lie ahead for her and the reader.
