Join Lyra
and Will as they travel into the Land of the Dead. Lyra’s parents,
Lord Asriel and Mrs. Coulter, continue to play important roles in
the action. Lord Asriel sends spies and does what he thinks is best,
while Mrs. Coulter both tries to protect and betrays Lyra. In addition,
Dr. Mary Malone, the scientist, discovers herself in a strange world
with the unusual mulefas, mysterious wheeled creatures who possess
the power to see Dust. Lyra’s friends, the armored bear Iorek Byrnison,
the witches, and even some of the dead, all work to help her accomplish
what she needs to do. This final volume in the Dark Materials trilogy
brings incredible fighting in the brutal battle between good and
evil, and leads to the final transformation of Lyra and Will.
